In the book of Revelation, Jesus gives a warning to the church to repent and return to her first love and first works. The first works were preaching, praying in tongues, and prophesying, which is the reciprocation of the knowledge of Truth that brings edification and comfort to the hearers, not foretelling of events or personal readings.
The time is now for people to come out from among them and be separate, as denominations and sectarianism have caused division among believers. Christ is not divided. Through the spiritual tools that He has sanctified in His Blood and Truth, He has revealed and given through the apostles’ office. We have access to serve Him as royal priests in the temple and experience the glorious work of regeneration of the soul and renewing of the mind within.
Jesus’ warning to the church is a call to repentance, a call to turn away from the worldly pursuits that have crept into the church and return to the first love, which is our love for Jesus. He is the reason for our existence, and our entire purpose should revolve around Him.
The first works of preaching, praying in tongues, and prophesying are essential for our spiritual growth and development. Preaching is the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which brings salvation to the lost and encourages believers to continue in the faith. Praying in tongues is a spiritual gift that empowers believers to pray according to the will of God, building up their faith and strengthening their spirit. Prophesying, which is the reciprocation of the knowledge of Truth, brings edification and comfort to the hearers, encouraging them to continue in the faith.
As we return to our first love and first works, we must also come out from among them and be separate. Denominations and sectarianism have caused division among believers, leading to strife and confusion. Christ is not divided, and neither should His body be divided. We must come together in unity, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and guide us into a deeper relationship with Jesus.
Through the spiritual tools that He has sanctified in His Blood and Truth, we have access to serve Him as royal priests in the temple. The glorious work of regeneration of the soul and renewing of the mind within us can only be accomplished through the power of God, which we receive through faith and the spiritual tools that He has given us. We must use these tools daily, building up our faith and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us into the image of Christ.
In conclusion, Jesus’ warning to the church to repent and return to her first love and first works is a call to turn away from the worldly pursuits that have crept into the church and return to our love for Jesus. The first works of preaching, praying in tongues, and prophesying are essential for our spiritual growth and development. We must come out from among them and be separate, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and guide us into a deeper relationship with Him. Through the spiritual tools that He has sanctified in His Blood and Truth, we have access to serve Him as royal priests in the temple made without hands, while experiencing the glorious work of regeneration within.
Are we as the Church actively pursuing our first love and first works, and are we using the spiritual tools that God has given us to serve as royal priests in His temple?
